The Strait of Gibraltar is one of the most charged stretches of water on earth — two continents, two seas, ten thousand years of history compressed into fourteen kilometres. Jorge Caballero painted it as he sees it: not as a geographical fact but as something alive, mythical, slightly unreal.
The lighthouses stand sentinel, the water moves between the greens of the Atlantic and the blues of the Mediterranean, and somewhere in the composition there's the feeling that this place has been watching humans come and go for a very long time and finds the whole thing mildly amusing.
